Sangkuriang

 

In ancient times, there was a story from one of the princesses in heavy Java named Dayang Sumbi who had a child named Sangkuriang, one day Sangkuriang went hunting accompanied by a dog named Tumang, but Sangkuriang did not know that the dog was an incarnation of a god and at the same time his father.

When hunting Sangkuriang met a deer, Sangkuriang remembered that his mother was very happy with the deer. Finally Sangkuriang told Tumang to chase the deer, but Tumang lost track of the deer and Sangkuriang became angry because Sangkuriang really wanted to give the deer's heart to his mother so Sangkuriang killed Tumang to take his heart and then he went home.

Arriving at Sangkuriang's house he gave the heart he got from hunting to his mother to cook. While eating it Dayang Sumbi remembered Tumang and asked Sangkuriang about it,  Sangkuriang answered with a scared face "Tumang is dead" Dayang Sumbi was angry and hit Sangkuriang's head with a rice spoon and threw him out of the house.

After that incident Dyang Sumbi regretted it very much, he always prayed and was very diligent in meditating until one day the god gave a gift to Dayang Sumbi in the form of eternal beauty and never old. After being kicked out by his mother, Sangkuriang wandered to various places, finally Sangkuriang returned to Dayang Sumbi's place then the two people met.

Sangkuriang finally fell in love with Dayang Sumbi, Sangkuriang proposed to Dayang Sumbi and Dayang Sumbi accepted. When Dayang Sumbi was alone, Dayang Sumbi  saw the scar on Sangkuriang's head and asked Sangkuriang, Sangkuriang replied  that this was a scar from being hit with a rice spoon by his mother. intend to marry her.

Dayang Sumbi submitted a request that he asked for a sailboat to be made in a day without more than a day, Sangkuriang agreed and Sangkuriang dammed the Citarum river for his boat to be built. Sangkuriang got help from the genie who had been defeated in his wanderings, because the help from the genie of the boat was almost finished. Dayang Sumbi asked for help from the genie. God. Dayang Sumbi made the rooster crow early, and finally the genie who helped Sangkuriang ran away in fear and left Sangkuriang alone. Because he was annoyed that the boat was kicked and fell on the mountain and merged with the mountain and named Mount Tangkupan Perahu, Sangkuriang finally died because   he fell into the Citarum river.
